The presence of DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) in a fuel tank can cause serious damage to your vehicle.
Even small amount of DEF in a diesel fuel tank can lead to corroded injectors, fuel pumps, sensors, and other vital components.
When DEF, composed of urea and deionized water, enters the diesel tank, it does not combust like diesel fuel. Instead, it can cause damage to the engine and fuel system. Chemical reactions occur as the DEF interacts with metal parts, potentially causing corrosion and deterioration.
If DEF is present in aviation fuel the danger is that the fuel in flight will freeze. DEF can form crystallized deposits that clog fuel filters and injectors, which can impede fuel flow. If detected quickly a fuel drain and cleaning is required to correct the situation. Also, early detection will prevent cross contamination on fluid collection and recycling. The test kit contains all that is needed to test for low level contamination.
